A Thursday Poem

To My Little Girl
By Julie McElhinney

Little hands, miniature toes
A cute round belly, and a tiny nose,
Pretty blue eyes, long curly hair
Comforting hugs to show that she cares.

Butterfly kisses and Eskimo too
She makes you happy when you are blue,
Dancing up and down all around
She giggles like a well-trained clown.

Thank you God for this precious gift
She gives my heart a much needed lift,
I will treasure her all my life and then
I’ll love her in the next life again.

Another Wednesday Poem

The Bumblebee and The Butterfly
By Julie McElhinney

Buzzing along there he goes
The busy busy bumble bee,
Stopping from rose to rose
Collecting polin to make honey.

Fly along little bumble bee
You won’t bother my day,
Just don’t come too close to me
As I sit here and play.

Gliding along there she goes
The pretty pretty butterfly,
Maybe she will land on my nose
Ask she flies again through the sky.

Glide along little butterfly
I don’t mind if you come see me
Come close and land on my hand
You’re beautiful as can be.

Free Digis For Wednesday - Bearded Dragon, Dress, and Model

Today's country SHOUT-OUT goes to Australia with the Bearded Dragon below.  I know that you might think of something else when it comes to Australia, but the first thing I think of is the Bearded Dragon because my husband has had two for pets.

A Wednesday Poem

The Outlook
By Julie McElhinney

What the hell did I do
To piss off the universe,
Someone tell these hardships
To give it up and disperse.

If problems always came in threes
I’d be honkey dory,
But that is just not the theme
To my never-ending story.

As soon as one problem ends
Another one begins,
Who’s first place in this race
It seems like nobody ever wins.

There I go again
Focusing on the worst part,
Maybe it’s finally time
To make a brand new start.

Tomorrow will be
A better kind of day,
All my problems will be here
They won’t just go away.

But my brand new outlook
Will improve continually,
And as long as it is positive
That will make for a better me.

A Tuesday Poem

Once Upon A Time
By Julie McElhinney

I dream of far off places
Of a prince in disguise,
A castle on a hilltop
And sparkling enchanted skies.

I dream of colored rainbows
That enhance the sky above,
I dream of giggles and happiness
Of hearts that are full of love.

I’d rather live my life dreaming
Of the world that I want to see,
Than being low down, dirty and sad
In a place I don’t want to be.

So give me stories of happiness
Of far off places that magic enchanted,
Of a beanstalk that reached to the sky
From a magic been that was planted.

Give me a princess that was a maid
Or that slept a thousand years,
Give me a girl that flooded a room
With the shedding of a few lost tears.

Give me a princess with hair so long
That it reached to the ground from a tower,
Give me the boy who pulled the sword from the stone
And found his own inner power.

For as long as you believe in yourself
These stories will ring true,
Each of us has some magic to share
With everything we say and do.

Are you the wicked witch
Only set out to enrich yourself,
Or are you the selfless man
That went around sharing the wealth.

Maybe you will find a lesson
When you read a story or two,
That will help you choose a path
And decide what you should do.

Question and Answer Monday

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!!!  I thought I would do a few fun question and answers today.  Feel free to play along and let me know about yourself.

Are you a napper?Yes.  As much as possible whenever I can.

What was your favorite subject in school? Most hated?  LOVED English and Art class.  Could not stand Math.

Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding?Old, a penny in my shoe.  New, dress, borrowed one of the garters and also tied a little blue stone to another one.

What one thing are you determined to do this summer? ORGANIZE MY CRAFT SPACE.  Seriously this is always a goal.  I am a very messy crafter and I have a TON of craft supplies because I just love to do all kinds of crafts.

Ice cream or Popsicles?  Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream please.

A Monday Poem

Open Your Eyes
By Julie McElhinney

A silence stretching across the distance
I search for the path of least resistance,
The journey is long and full of dread
I wish I could stay warm and safe in my bed.

But I put on my pack and walk along
Humming that oh so familiar song,
I trudge through the world looking for direction
Hoping to find shelter, love and protection.

My eyes were clouded I had no sight
It was like walking in the pitch dark of night,
If only I’d taken time to realize
All I had to do was open my eyes.

What I was hunting sat there from the start
All I had to do was open up my heart,
Thank you dear God for coming in
Forgiving my past and washing away my sin.

I have You when the burden is heavy to hold
To keep my heart warm in a world that’s cold,
To help me take the time to realize
That it’s difficult to see when you shut your eyes.

You can e-mail me at scraphappypapercrafter@gmail.com with your theme.  If you want to include a picture with it as a reference than feel free to do that as well.  I'm always up for a fun challenge.

Thanks so much for participating and check back on June 1st to see the winner of the RCK pack and next months challenge.

100 Follower Giveaway and an UPDATE

So we are VERY VERY close to the 100 follower giveaway announcement.  We actually only need one more follower to get there and then I will announce the winner of the RCK pack.  I use a flat rate priority mail envelope and try to cram as many goodies from my stash that I can fit in there.  I'm just a little bit of a craft hoarder, so this is a good way for me to share the love a little bit.  :o)

My dad is finally home from the hospital, but the clots in his lungs will definitely slow him down for awhile.

Miss Meggie Mac was sick Thursday....fine Friday....and then throwing up again Saturday morning.  I'm pretty convinced she has seasonal allergies like her mommy.  So, I started her on kids allergy meds last night before bed.  She seemed much better this morning, so let's pray this works.  I'm really hoping for a better week starting tomorrow.  :o)

A Sunday Poem

Super Craft Hoarder
By Julie McElhinney

Give me scissors, paper and glue
Leave me alone for an hour or two,
I’ll do some needed craft therapy
And have some time to focus on me.

So what if glitter’s on the floor
I’ll go to the store to buy some more,
I’m making a lasting memory
And setting my creative spirit free.

I’m the MacGyver of my craft
Give me popsicle sticks I’ll make a life raft,
Some might call me the super craft hoarder
But I really need a hundred scrapbook borders.

So what if my craft table is piled high
With unfinished projects that reach to the sky,
I’m happy and that is more important than the rest
For crafting is awesome and sincerely the best.

A Saturday Poem - Ponder It

Ponder It
By Julie McElhinney

I look out across the vast void
Seeing silence and loneliness there,
In a world that is dark and broken
Does anyone truly care?

Looking into a deep dark pit
Of fear, pain, and doubt,
And wondering what this world
Is really all about.

Perhaps there is more meaning
Than you or I can admit,
It’s important for us to take the time
To sit back and ponder it.

Make room for happy healing
Don’t always focus on the bad,
Or you will live your life feeling
Lonely, broken and sad.

Getting Cricky Simply Sunday challenge card using K Andrew "Of Mice and Little Men" stamps. Get well card for my dad.
Wow this has been a stressful week! My dad went to the ER on Tuesday and has blood clots in both lungs. He's still in the hospital. Now today Meggie got sick and thre up twice at daycare. I came to get her and she threw up one more time before we left. Now she is sleeping. I'm sure the week could be worse, but I'm pretty stressed out at the moment.

A Father's Day Poem

Daddy
By: Julie McElhinney

Do you know how much I look up to you
And appreciate your life,
The way you create and inspire me
The way you treasure your wife.

You are a father I’m proud to have
I’d show you off to the world
And I’m so happy that God chose me
To be your little girl.

A Wednesday Poem

In Your Eyes
By Julie McElhinney

They say the eyes are the window to the soul
Where your light should shine from within,
But when I look deep into your eyes
They look darkened and dim.

I see a sadness silhouetted there
That has built up over the years,
A sheen and slight glistening
That is highlighted by your tears.

I wonder how often you might look
Into a mirror of glass,
To see your eyes as they change
As the years continually pass.

Perhaps you do not notice
Or maybe you don’t realize
The sadness that people see
Each time they gaze in your eyes.

I pray for you continually
Each and every day,
That God might give you strength
And that your pain will go away.

Perhaps someday soon
I will glance towards your face,
And see a shining happiness
Full of Gods’ enduring grace.

A Tuesday Poem

Walking Blind
By Julie McElhinney

You feel like you’re on a sinking ship
With no life boat to escape it,
Do you jump and try to swim away
Or play your music and face it?

You feel like you are lost and afraid
In a world that’s lonely and dark,
Wishing the light could show you the way
But you can’t seem to find the spark.

What do you do when you feel alone
When you’re scared to walk the distance,
When you’re weaker than you’ve ever been
You can’t find an exit or an entrance?

You don’t know which way to turn
All you want is a little direction,
Just look to God who’ll carry you
He’ll give you love and protection.

It’s hard for you to see the way
When your eyes are blinded with tears,
Just let Him take your hand
And guide you through the rocky years.

Free Digis For Monday - Oldies But Goodies Day

Well I said I would start posting some older digis that I posted awhile back.  I hope you all had an excellent weekend!  On Friday night I had a girl's night with my best friend Yvonne.  My mom picked up Meghan from daycare and they had a fun night out too!  I got to see "The Five Year Engagement," which was SOOO funny though it does have a ton of bad language. I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.

On Saturday I spent the day at Maize Valley Market & Winery for the Celtic Beltane Festival.  I help do baskets for that festival every year that helps to support Pegasus Farms, a therapeutic horse riding place near Maize Valley in Ohio.  Pegasus Farms is just an amazing place that uses horses to enrich the lives of children that are going through a number of physical or emotional problems.

Saturday night Meghan and I drove up to Cleveland to spend the night with my sister in law and two nieces in a hotel.  She got up Sunday morning to run the half marathon and I stayed with all of the girls while she left at 5:30am.  We had a fun time swimming in the pool Saturday night and having a great girly sleep-over.

By Sunday we were all pretty beat and tried to get plenty of rest.  :o)

Free Digis For Wednesday

My duaghter and I had the best time playing nurse / doctor with her toys a couple weeks ago.  She just loved putting bandages on and bandaids on them and playing Clinic.  She was a nurse and I was the doctor.  The doctor / patient bear below was inspired by that.
