A Sunday Poem

End Of Day Meeting
By Julie McElhinney

Tick tock goes the clock
This is the longest day ever,
Give me something to do
That will allow me to be clever.

Tick tock I look at the clock
Another minute has passed,
I wonder how long my consciousness
Will be able to last.

Tick tock someone break that clock
It taunts my every move,
Showing how slowly time has passed
Like it has something to prove.

Tick tock threw a shoe at the clock
I missed and it fell to the floor,
The damn clock’s not broken
So it will tick some more.

Tick tock thank God for that clock
It says it’s time to go home,
Don’t look so angrily at that clock
Leave the poor device alone.
