A Wednesday Poem

My Book Of Life
By Julie McElhinney

I’ve been reading this book so long
That the pages are old and worn,
Reading about this life
Back to the day when I was born.

Scanning through the pages
Seeing the pain and sadness there,
Searching for the person
That showed they really cared.

Reading some happy stories
Of the earlier years,
When life had fewer worries
And less serious bouts of tears.

Browsing through these words I wonder
When I will reach the ending,
What will happen to me next
Is to be determined and pending.
