A Saturday Poem

No Room
By Julie McElhinney

There’s not enough room
In my heart for you,
There used to be
Yes that part is true.

Pain and heartache
Have filled the space,
And time has started
To erase your face.

I used to wonder
How life would be,
If there was no longer
A “you and me.”

But I moved on
To make a new start,
And released the hold
That you had on my heart.
